In brief

Service robotics for golf courses and parks

Grounds robots are autonomous robots designed to work outdoors, over large areas and uneven terrain. Two families dominate: mowing robots, which maintain golf courses, sports fields and parks according to a programmed cutting plan, and security robots, which patrol a site and report anomalies. Professional robotic mowers locate themselves to within a few centimeters using RTK satellite positioning and work within virtual boundaries, with no perimeter wire.

Definitions

RTK positioning
Satellite positioning corrected in real time by a reference station, which locates a robot to within a few centimeters. It allows mowing within virtual boundaries, with no buried wire.
Reel mower
A mower with rotating cylinders that cut grass like scissors, for a clean, close cut. It is the standard for maintaining golf greens and fairways.
Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS)
Renting a robot for a monthly or quarterly fee with a 36-month commitment, including installation, maintenance, insurance and replacement in case of failure. It is the alternative to buying the robot outright.

How it works

How a robot fits into a golf course or a park

The robot works to a plan defined with your teams: mowing zones, patrol routes and time slots.

  1. Mapping

The site is surveyed by satellite positioning: areas to mow, virtual boundaries, obstacles and no-go zones.

  2. Scheduling

Cutting height and patterns, schedules and patrol routes are programmed with your teams.

  3. Operation

The robot mows or patrols autonomously, then returns to its charging station.

  4. Monitoring

Mowed areas, completed patrols and alerts are tracked remotely in a dashboard.

Use cases

Real situations, measurable results

  • Mowing greens before opening

    Situation

Greens and fairways must be mowed every day, early in the morning, before the first tee times.

    With a robot

The robot mows to the programmed cutting plan; groundskeepers focus on finishing and irrigation.

  • Maintaining a large park

    Situation

Several hectares of lawn to maintain regularly, with small teams and visitors on site during the day.

    With a robot

The robot mows outside opening hours, quietly and with no combustion engine.

  • Night-time security for a large site

    Situation

A golf course or estate covering dozens of hectares is hard to fully monitor at night.

    With a robot

The robot carries out regular patrols and alerts the security team in case of an anomaly.

Our advisory approach

We assess your needs before recommending a robot.

In golf courses and parks as elsewhere, the right robot depends on your flows, your spaces and your systems. Elio acts as an independent integrator: every recommendation stems from an on-site assessment, not from a catalog.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about robots for golf courses and parks

Another question? Write to us.

For greens and fairways, a robotic reel mower such as the Pudu GT7 delivers a professional-quality cut. For roughs and large areas, a large-area mowing robot such as the Husqvarna CEORA. Elio selects the model suited to your course from several manufacturers.

No. Professional robotic mowers locate themselves using RTK satellite positioning and work within virtual boundaries, defined when the site is mapped.

Yes. Patrol robots such as the Robotnik RB-WATCHER carry out autonomous all-terrain patrols with a day/night pan-tilt camera. They detect intrusions, open fences and fire outbreaks, and alert the security team.

They are designed for outdoor use. Operating conditions (rain, slopes, ground condition) are checked while analyzing your site, before any recommendation.

Not necessarily. You can either buy the robot or rent it for a monthly or quarterly fee with a 36-month commitment, including installation, maintenance, insurance and replacement in case of failure.
