Whatever its use, an autonomous service robot follows the same principles: it knows the site map, constantly locates itself, plans its route and adapts to its surroundings.
Mapping
At installation, the robot travels the site once and records a map, with its permitted and no-go areas.
Localization
During a mission, it constantly locates itself on that map using its sensors (LiDAR, cameras): this is SLAM, simultaneous localization and mapping.
Route planning
It plans its own route to the destination, and replans it if a passage is blocked.
Safety
Its sensors detect obstacles and people: it slows down, stops or goes around them.
Charging
Between missions, it returns to its charging station, automatically on most models.
Integration
Depending on the project, it communicates with your elevators, doors or software, and its missions are tracked in an app.
